Extraction Tech

The Extraction Technician will be responsible for safely and effectively converting cannabinoid raw materials into high quality, food safe oils and water dispersible products.

Responsibilities include:

  • Performing his/her duties in a safe manner and environment while adhering to all safety regulations for Socati and the industry.
  • Carrying out all extraction, extract processing, product formulation, filling and manufacturing procedures in an efficient manner that complies with SQF, GMP, OSHA regulations, Socati SOP’s and all applicable laboratory procedures.
  • Packaging of Socati broad product line as needed.
  • Ensuring compliance and accuracy involving all product tracking, product security, and product transfer procedures.
  • Following appropriate control measures to prevent improper mixing of production components while following Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Performing in-process and post-process quality assurance testing and conducting visual inspections to ensure all product meets or exceed Socati specifications.

Quality Assurance work shall include but not be limited to:

  • Recording and monitoring process conditions to ensure compliance to standard operating procedures.
  • Weighing, data recording, and batch tracking throughout Socati process.
  • Continually strive to improve Socati processes for improved safety, quality, and efficient manufacturing.
  • Support new product and process development.
  • Monitoring and managing lab and processing equipment supplies and inventory.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or Biochemistry preferred.
  • Strong understanding of the principles of biochemistry, organic and inorganic chemistry.
  • Experience with simple and fractional distillation and crystallization.
  • Experience with Short Path Distillation (SPD) equipment.
  • Knowledge of laboratory procedures, techniques, and scientific method.
  • Operational ability with common scientific laboratory equipment, including repairs and adjustments specialized knowledge.
  • Must be a multitasker, with the ability to work on several requests simultaneously without losing focus.
  • Organization and initiative, good communications skills, proactive, problem-solving, time management, discretion and confidentiality.
  • Ability to build good relationships during frequent contact with clients and coworkers by telephone, email or in person.
  • Strong work ethic and commitment to quality.

Working Conditions:

Greenhouse Technician

Socati Agriscience is seeking a dynamic Greenhouse Technician experienced in greenhouse operations to support breeding and seed production efforts of industrial hemp to be conducted at our facility in Woodburn, Oregon.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting the Director of Agronomy and Team Lead in operating the facility in support of various breeding and seed production-related teams and projects.
  • Production of high-quality plant and seed materials including managing the entire growth cycle of plant material, filling pots, planting seeds, generating clones, irrigation, controlled pollinations, seed processing, and rigorous tracking of all processes.
  • Identify areas for process and technical improvements and provide solutions that increase the quality and quantity of plant and seed production.
  • Maintain greenhouse supply inventory.
  • Operate within stringent safety and regulatory guidelines.

Qualifications:

  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy, Horticulture, Plant and Soil Science or a related field OR equivalent combination of education and job experience.
  • Previous greenhouse or nursery experience strongly preferred.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of daily operations related to plant growth areas and familiarity with greenhouse lighting, watering, fertilization, pest control and greenhouse environmental control systems is preferred.
  • Flexibility to work on weekends and holidays on a rotating schedule is required.
  • Experience with the use of databases to maintain/track processes is a plus.
  • Problem-solving skills and desire to continually improve methods for plant production are highly desired.
  • Previous experience with pesticide application and a current, valid Private Pesticide Applicators License is a plus.

Controller

Socati is a leading processor of broad-spectrum hemp extracts.  The headquarters is located in the heart of downtown Austin, Texas. Socati’s innovation and production facility is located in Missoula, Montana, and the agronomy center is located in Woodburn, Oregon. Socati has been well capitalized with over $40 million in investment capital since 2018. The Controller will be leading the way during an exciting time of growth into the next phase of our company. The ideal candidate must have at least 10+ years working in an accounting organization. Candidates with high growth venture capital/private equity-backed company experience are a PLUS! Must be flexible in the role and able to wear multiple hats as needed.

Location: Austin, Texas
This position will work from home (remote) until re-opening of our office in Austin is scheduled.

Responsibilities include:

  • Lead the accounting organization for the company which has multiple facilities (Austin TX, Missoula MT, Woodburn OR).
  • Lead the month close and financial reporting processes for the company.
  • Income statement, accounts receivable, accounts payable, bank reconciliation, year-end preparation, payroll and all other ad hoc financial reporting.
  • Oversee cost accounting activities that take place at processing facilities.
  • Manage treasury and banking functions; also manage outside tax compliance function.
  • Maintain customer relationships and identify opportunities to produce enhanced financial results.
  • Help manage working capital for the business to enhance cash flow.
  • Review and approve monthly financial statements, account reconciliations and treatment of various accounting issues to deliver to CFO and company executive team.
  • Develop accounting policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate with external auditors and lead bank and investor reporting.
  • Assist in implementation of Netsuite ERP system.

Requirements:

  • 10+ years in progressive roles in an accounting/finance organization; prior Controller experience highly desired.
  • BA Degree in Accounting/Finance, but will consider progressive years of equivalent experience
  • CPA, MPA and/or MBA highly desired.
  • Experience working in inventory-based companies (wholesale, manufacturing, etc.).
  • Public accounting firm experience is highly preferred.
  • Experience with early-stage high-growth company preferred.
  • Strong technical US GAAP knowledge.
  • Experience implementing new accounting systems and processes within an organization or project; Netsuite experience highly desired.
  • Exquisite written and verbal communication skills coupled with the ability to lead a team of professionals.

Financial Planner and Analyst

This role will be a key asset in the future growth of the company. This individual will spear-head the Company’s financial quarterly forecast, annual budgeting process, operating plan variance analysis and special projects. The Financial Planner & Analyst will provide financial consulting and strategic support to senior management including preparing board presentations, financial presentations, capital expenditure analysis, industry/peer group comparisons, new business opportunities, acquisition analysis and other projects requested by senior management. This function acts as the analytical engine of the company to provide insights and support ‘optimal’ business decision making. The position reports to the Chief Financial Officer.

Responsibilities include:

  • Analyze current and past trends in key performance indicators including all areas of revenue, cost of sales, expenses and capital expenditures
  • Monitor performance indicators, highlighting trends and analyzing causes of unexpected variance
  • Supervision of Financial Analyst(s)
  • Oversee and manage the continued development of Budgeting, Financial Forecasting, Operating Plan and Modeling tools
  • Ad-Hoc Reporting and Analysis
  • Quarterly and Monthly Financial reports
  • Implement and work with a Business Intelligence Tool and Dashboard reports
  • Improve performance by evaluating processes to drive efficiencies and understand ROI in marketing programs, menu pricing, new store rollouts as well as new projects
  • Develop financial models and analyses to support strategic initiatives
  • Analyze complex financial information and reports to provide accurate and timely financial recommendations to management for decision making purposes
  • Supporting Senior Management Team and Departments heads with in-depth analysis
  • Prepare presentations to Board of Directors and Senior Management Team

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance; MBA highly preferred, but will consider progressive years of equivalent experience
  • 5+ years experience as Manager or Director of Financial Planning and Analysis
  • Strong leadership skills required. Experience in multi-unit retail/restaurant concepts preferred
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills. Access and Lawson skills desirable
  • Highest standards of accuracy and precision; highly organized.
  • Articulate with excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to think creatively, highly-driven and self-motivated
  • Demonstrated ability to roll-up sleeves and work with team members in a hands-on management capacity
